The "Conferenze" series was established in 1956 on the initiative of Professor Bronisław Biliński, Director of the PAN Center in Rome from 1956 to 1984, who oversaw the publication of the first hundred issues. The series was continued by his successors, and since 2007 (vol. 119) has been published in a new layout.
