Ep. 49: Geopolonistics - a virtual bridge between cultures.
"Geopolonistics" is a story about the history of research into the Polish language and literature, about the institutions conducting Polish language teaching and research, about the people who practised this research and created the conditions for its development. It is a story about their work in institutions and about their students - possibly future researchers and didacticians of the Polish language. The narrators of this story are researchers, teachers and students. They tell the story in the form of recorded statements, made films, and documentary studies. Each of them contributes to building a narrative about Polish studies in the world, about research into the Polish language and literature, about the value of learning Polish. It is at the same time a story about Polish literature, art and history. All forms of communicating knowledge about Polish literature, art and history proposed by the project aim to activate the Polish studies community and broaden the competences of students. Its participants - students, doctoral students and lecturers from Italy, Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland, but also digital humanists, programmers, promoters of the Polish language, literature and culture, will join forces and show how, despite cultural differences, to find common ground - in the Polish language and culture. Participation in the project will enhance the language competences of Polish Studies students in Italy, Ukraine and Lithuania and enrich their experience in promoting their home universities. The 'Geopolonistics' itself - a multimedia map combined with a compendium of knowledge about Polish institutions, as a modern digital project will encourage students of Polish Studies and other philological faculties, as well as university candidates, to take an interest in the Polish language and culture. The activities undertaken will be interdisciplinary, combining Polish philology, digital humanities and cultural studies.
