Ep. 6: How to prepare teaching staff for the challenges of a rapidly developing information society?
The general objective of the research project is to develop theoretical grounds and collect quantitative and qualitative material to modernize academic curricula in pre-service teacher training in the area of constructive-critical use of new media (Internet, computers, software, websites, smartphones). The general objective is related to the dynamic changes in the education sector regarding digital media usage. The research project focuses on both, learning-teaching aspect and educational issues connected with new technologies.
Preparation of the successful teaching staff is the global challenge. That is why this topic is interesting not only for specialists engaged in education research in the areas of: pedeutology, media pedagogy, theory of education or IT, but it also draws public attention. Successful use of digital media by teachers is particularly noticeable since March 2012 when most of the educational processes has been digitized. Thus, the objective is not only a response to the cognitive gap; it will also help to answer the question which appears in public and professional narratives: How to prepare new teaching staff (pre-service teachers) for the challenges connected with the opportunities and threats resulting from the rapid development of the information (network) society?
