Ep. 69: Improving the methodology and status of migration research
Among the first fellows accepted by the Polish Institute for Advanced Studies (PIASt) was Prof. Riccardo Pozzo, currently based at Rome's Tor Vergata University. The scholarship he received and his five-month stay in Poland allowed him to begin his international research work, which focused on the problems of migration studies and their methodology. As rightly noted during the project, the issue of migration is extremely important not only in terms of political decisions, but also in issues of economic, environmental and cultural development of society. At the same time, research on the issue of migration should be updated - Professor Pozzo and his team of researchers noted some inaccuracies in the methodology of the subject and suggested several strategies for improving the current agenda. The result is an article that is several subsections long and addresses, among other issues, the proper management of research funds, aspects related to the globalization of migration research or building relationships with African research communities.
During his fellowship, Prof. Pozzo addressed research on innovation in culture and how public spaces such as libraries, museums and science centers play an important role in this aspect. The result of this research is an extremely interesting paper of several pages in a study entitled Stay Tuned to the Future: Impact of Research Infrastructures for Social Sciences and Humanities.
