Exhibition "Nicolaus Copernicus. Life and Work"

The exhibition Nicolaus Copernicus. Life and Work is an initiative carried out by the Archives of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The opening of the exhibition took place in the presence of Anna Golec-Mostroiani, Consul General in Milan, and Agnieszka Stefaniak-Hrycko, director of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Rome.

The launch of this exhibition is one of the initiatives related to the celebrations of the 550th anniversary of the birth of Copernicus, not only an astronomer, but also a jurist, mathematician, cartographer, economist, physician and, according to some, philosopher. The exhibition, currently housed at the Consulate General in Milan, soon will be set out on a journey through Italy.

IRPI-CNR and Uniba studies on knowledge of earthquake events in Apulian territories

Is Bari in a threat of an earthquake? What about the rest of Apulia? Answers to these questions have recently appeared in an article published by La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno. The technical and scientific coordinators of the research project discussed in the article are Dr. Janusz Wąsowski and Prof. Vincenzo Del Gaudio of CNR-IRPI. Dr. Wąsowski has worked for 30 years on a wide range of research topics, from slope instability and landslide assessment, seismic hazards, geotechnical field investigations and monitoring, to the use of spatial remote sensing and geophysical surveys in engineering geology. He has also worked as a consultant, focusing on landslides and other geologic hazards, as well as on the use of satellite multitemporal interferometry for monitoring land deformation and infrastructure stability. He is also an editor of the journal Engineering Geology.
